Swann Morton Safety Scalpel with Retracting Guard
The Swann Morton Safety Scalpel with Retracting Guard combines a precision stainless-steel surgical blade with an integrated safety mechanism designed to help reduce the risk of accidental sharps injuries. The fixed, preloaded blade is protected by a retractable guard, providing an additional layer of protection when the scalpel is not actively being used.
???? AGE RESTRICTION – 18+ ONLY
You must be aged 18 or over to purchase this product. Age verification may be required. This is a professional surgical instrument containing an extremely sharp blade and must be handled, used, stored and disposed of responsibly.
Designed by Swann-Morton for healthcare professionals, the Safety Scalpel features an ergonomic handle and graduated measure to support controlled handling. The retractable guard covers the blade`s cutting edge when activated, helping to reduce the risk associated with exposed sharps.
No. 10 and No. 15 Safety Scalpels
Canonbury currently offers two sterile versions of the Swann Morton Safety Scalpel:
- No. 10 Safety Scalpel – fitted with a No. 10 stainless-steel surgical blade.
- No. 15 Safety Scalpel – fitted with a No. 15 stainless-steel surgical blade.
Both versions feature the same retracting guard design and are supplied as ready-to-use, preloaded safety scalpels. Each sterile version is supplied in a box of 10 individually packaged units.
Retracting Guard for Added Sharps Protection
The key feature of the Swann Morton Safety Scalpel is its integrated retracting guard. Unlike a conventional scalpel that requires a separate blade and reusable handle, this safety scalpel arrives with the blade permanently fitted to the handle.
The guard can be positioned to protect the blade`s cutting edge when the scalpel is not in use. Swann-Morton has developed the system specifically to assist with reducing accidental sharps injuries and to support safer handling and passing procedures in healthcare environments.
Ergonomic Design
The safety scalpel features an ergonomic handle designed for controlled handling, together with a graduated measurement scale. The fixed blade and integrated handle eliminate the need to manually fit an individual scalpel blade before use.
The Safety Scalpel range is available in a variety of blade profiles, allowing healthcare professionals to select the configuration appropriate for their requirements.
Sterile and Ready to Use
The No. 10 and No. 15 versions available from Canonbury are sterile safety scalpels, supplied with the stainless-steel blade already fitted to the handle. Each unit is individually packaged, helping maintain sterility until required.
Important Safety Information
Although the retracting guard provides additional protection, this remains an extremely sharp surgical instrument and can cause serious injury if used or handled incorrectly.
Purchasers must be aged 18 or over. Keep safety scalpels securely stored away from children and only use them for their intended professional application.
These products are manufactured for use by trained healthcare professionals. Appropriate training and instruction should be obtained before handling or using surgical safety scalpels.
Follow the manufacturer`s instructions for use and dispose of the complete safety scalpel appropriately after use. Do not attempt to remove or replace the preloaded blade.
