    1. Getting the Right Footwear
    Don't rely on trainers or casual shoes for hiking. Your feet will need specialist footwear designed for the task at hand. Look for models with toe flexibility and stiff shanks. If you bend the boot and it collapses into itself, it won't have the right support. The boot should only bend at the toe section. A good walking boot or shoe will also retain it’s shape and look stable. Do look for some bend, however, as a non-bending shoe or boot may be too rigid.

    2. Wear the Right Socks
    Remember too that socks are incredibly important for hiking. One of the best foot care tips for hikers is to buy specialist sweat-wicking ones and avoid cotton socks which don't allow for evaporation and simply absorb moisture. When cotton becomes wet it loses its elasticity and shape, and this increases skin irritation and rubbing, often leading to blisters.
